Choosing the perfect diamond can be a delicate process and there are many things for you to consider before making a decision. At Knights Fine Jewellery, our expert team has a strong working knowledge of diamonds and will help you find the right one for you.
Knowledge & Expertise
Due to our experience and knowledge within the industry, we have the ability to identify the value and type of a diamond with ease. Our understanding of the four Cs – a recognised system used by diamond experts around the world – gives us the edge over our competitors, ensuring the highest quality diamond for your needs.
The Four Cs
A well cut diamond will reflect brilliant white and coloured light whereas a poorly cut diamond will not. Some examples of diamond cuts include princess, marquise and radiant. Each of these has its own special qualities and characteristics, and as such should be the first choice you make when selecting your diamond.
Carat refers to the weight of the stone. Some diamonds are cut as small as 0.05 carats, with the largest being the well-known ’‘Star of Africa’ at 530 carats. There isn’t a ‘standard size’ as such. Most stones are cut and polished to the maximum weight given the type of raw stone available.
The ‘colour’ of a diamond actually refers to the lack of colour in a gem. Diamonds are graded on a scale that features 23 shades, from ice white D (colourless) to warmer Z (light colour). Each subsequent letter on this scale denotes a more yellow colour. Decreased yellowness often corresponds to the desirability of the diamond.
The clarity of a diamond is based on how many naturally occurring inclusions or blemishes it features. Variations run from Flawless with no inclusions or blemishes to Included where inclusions are obvious under 10x magnification.
All of our diamonds have been ethically sourced and we now offer new ethical lab-grown diamonds, which are competitively priced. These are IGI-certified and predicted to take a huge market share within the next 10-15 years.
Your diamond can either be certified or non-certified. Your certification document will detail the specifics of your diamond – its cut, carat, colour and clarity – and include information about any inclusions or blemishes. Every diamond at Knights Fine Jewellery has passed through the hands of our experts and is guaranteed to be a beautiful natural stone. All carefully selected diamonds can be placed within precious metals through our Bespoke Design Service.
